Issan White is a cane-juice rum from the Thai distillery Issan, distilled from fresh-pressed sugar cane rather than molasses, which makes it agricole in spirit even though the protected term belongs to the French islands. A 2014 vintage, it is bottled clear and unaged to show the raw cane.
Pot-distilled and bottled at 40%, it leans on the distinctive character of cane-juice rum: grassy and herbaceous with a green, vegetal snap and a fresh sugar-cane sweetness, drier and brighter than a molasses white.
