A white rhum agricole from Saint James, the Martinique house dating to 1765, distilled from fresh cane juice on a Creole column and bottled dry and unsweetened at 40% in the classic blanc style.
Description
Saint James Rhum Imperial Blanc is a white rhum agricole from Saint James, one of Martinique's largest and oldest houses, distilling since 1765 and famous for its squared bottle. Distilled from fresh-pressed sugar-cane juice rather than molasses and run low on a Creole column still to preserve the cane's vegetal character, it is bottled unsweetened within the island's AOC tradition.
No formal tasting notes are recorded for this bottling, so expect the blanc house style: grassy and herbaceous with fresh sugar-cane sap, white pepper and a saline, green-olive edge, dry rather than sweet. Bottled at 40%, it is a classic base for a Ti' Punch, the canonical agricole serve, with lime and cane syrup.
