This Rum Sponge release from Decadent Drinks brings together two old Hampden fillings, 1990 and 1992, under the JMH marque, for a 31 Year Old bottling at cask strength. Hampden in Trelawny distils entirely on double-retort pot stills and is the benchmark for high-ester Jamaican funk, here matured in ex-bourbon over three decades, the long ageing folding complexity around the estate's signature fruit.

The nose is full of tropical fruit, pineapple, ester and banana, the palate keeps the tropical fruit and esters alongside spice and a roasted note, and the finish carries citrus, roasted wood and spice. Unsweetened and bottled at 57.7%, this is a complex, well-aged Hampden that holds its varnish-and-fruit character while gaining the depth of long maturation, a contemplative pour for drinkers who want serious age behind the funk.
