Kingsbury Diamond Demerara Rum Pot Still Shinanoya (Tomintoul Cask)

This single-cask Demerara comes off the Diamond distillery's pot still and was selected by Kingsbury for the Tokyo retailer Shinanoya, with the unusual twist of maturation in a cask that previously held Tomintoul Speyside whisky. It carries no age statement and is bottled overproof at 59%.

Pot-still Guyanese rum sits at the heavier, woodier end of the Demerara spectrum, so expect sawn timber, brown sugar and dark fruit with a firm structure rather than the clean toffee of the column stills. A refill whisky cask tends to let the spirit speak, so the still character would be expected to lead. A characterful, full-strength bottling from a Japanese retailer collaboration.
