Nobilis No. 3 Rockley BBR 1986

Nobilis No. 3 is a 1986 Rockley style Barbados rum, bottled from a single cask by Nobilis Rum. Rockley is a style rather than a working still, a medium to heavy, high ester profile of smoke, honey and medicinal funk historically tied to WIRD distillate, and this 34 year old veteran is a deep expression of it.

Distilled on a pot still from molasses and matured in ex-bourbon oak to a natural cask strength of 54.7% without sweetening, it opens on honey, smoke, vanilla and spice, then turns honeyed and smoky on the palate with woody depth and tropical fruit. The finish carries smoke, spice, liquorice and a herbal, medicinal edge, with a creamy sweetness running underneath. This is old, characterful rum for drinkers who already know the Rockley honey and smoke signature and want it at its most concentrated and idiosyncratic.
