Oxenham Craft Distillery Oaks and Ames VSOP is a Mauritian cane juice rum from the Oxenham distillery. Mauritius sits outside the protected agricole appellations, so this is honestly an agricole style rum rather than agricole proper, made from fresh cane juice in the spirit of the French islands.

Distilled on a pot still and matured four years in ex bourbon oak, it keeps a soft, grassy profile. The nose offers grass, chamomile, freshness and menthol, the palate turns to coconut, chamomile and gentle spice, and the finish brings cherry, nuts and spice. At 43 percent it is mild and approachable rather than powerful, with fruity touches of banana, peach and citrus, a refreshing, lightly grassy rum that suits easy neat sipping and slides neatly into an Old Fashioned or longer cocktail.
