Description
That Boutique-y Rum Company bottles honest, additive-free rum, and this is a ten-year Diamond drawn off the double wooden pot still, the Port Mourant marque that anchors old navy Demerara. Young for the style, finished in Port and bottled at 52.5%, it shows the PM signature in a fresher, more energetic form.
The nose carries vanilla, raisin and a glassy glue note alongside the proof, the palate turns roasted and barrel-driven with spice and tea, and the finish brings brown sugar, a caramelised edge, raisin and a touch of bitterness. The Port cask adds dried fruit and sweet spice without making it a sweet rum, and at this age it stays a little thin and lively rather than deep. It offers good value for the Port Mourant character on show, a younger, punchier take for drinkers who like the marque but do not need decades of age.
