Rivière du Mât Arrangé Ananas Caramélisé

Riviere du Mat Arrange Ananas Caramelise is a flavoured rum from Reunion, part of the distillery's arrange range built around infused fruit and sugar. At 35% and openly sweet, it sits closer to a fruit liqueur than to a traditional aged rum, and the copy should be honest about that.

The profile is dominated by caramelised pineapple, with burnt sugar, yellow fruit and a frankly confected, almost synthetic edge that is typical of the industrial arrange style. There is little of the grassy cane character of a classic agricole here, and the sweetness is heavy throughout. It is at its best poured ice cold over ice or diluted as a dessert pour or easy summer drink, where the chill tempers the sugar and the pineapple does the talking.
