Description
This is a Chelo clairin bottled by Velier, the most prestigious name in collectible rum, from its acclaimed Haitian range. Clairin is village cane juice rum made by wild, spontaneous fermentation from heirloom cane, agricole in spirit but barred from the word, and known for turbo charged funk.
This ansyen, or aged, expression spent nineteen months in ex-Bourbon oak, enough to round the spirit while keeping its raw character. Expect the intense, funky, ester driven profile typical of Haitian clairin, grassy and vegetal with a wild edge, now framed by a little oak. Cask strength and unsweetened at 53.1 percent, this is a bold, characterful pour for those who want their cane juice rum at full intensity.
