A Nicaraguan 18 Year Old bottled by independent Bristol Classic Rum from a 1999 vintage, this molasses ron is column-distilled, ex-bourbon aged and presented at a fuller 43%.
Description
Bristol Reserve Rum of 1999 is a single-origin Nicaraguan bottling from Bristol Classic Rum, a long-running English independent specialising in older and closed-distillery stock. Distilled from molasses by Compania Licorera on a column still, aged from a 1999 vintage to eighteen years and bottled at 43%, it shows the more characterful, less commercial side of Nicaraguan rum. Independent bottlings of this kind are usually presented dry or nearly so, letting the long oak ageing speak through vanilla, toasted wood and dried fruit. The higher strength gives it more definition than a soft brand bottling, making it a more spirit-forward, contemplative pour.
