Dictador Best Of 1987

Dictador's Best Of releases draw on long aged Colombian rum from Destilería Colombiana, a column distilled molasses spirit in the Spanish style where cask and time shape the character. This 1987 cask sits comfortably in the house mould, sweet and rounded with the rich oak that long ageing brings.

The nose is classic Dictador, sweet with caramel, dried fruit and vanilla, leading into an oily palate that keeps that sweetness alongside more dried fruit and vanilla. The finish turns oily and woody with a roasted edge. As with most of the range these old Colombian rums lean to the sweet side, and the sugar status here is undeclared, so the impression is mellow and dessert like rather than dry. At 43% it is an easy, slow sipper for drinkers who enjoy the soft, caramel rich character that defines the Dictador house.
