William Hinton revives Madeira's cane juice rum tradition, one of the few places outside the French islands legally entitled to the agricole name. This bottling spends six years in Madeira wine casks, an unusual maturation that stamps the spirit with a clear vinous character.

Distilled from fresh sugarcane juice on the column still, it opens with grapes, sour fruit and raisin on the nose, the Madeira influence immediately apparent. The palate turns woody and roasted with an earthy, grape-skin edge, and the finish carries dried fruit and oak with the alcohol fairly present for the strength. At 42% this is a relaxed, gentle pour rather than a deep or powerful one, best read as a soft cane juice profile dressed in a sweet wine cask twist, a curious detour for drinkers who enjoy wine finished rums.
