Silver Seal T.D.L Wildlife Series No. 2 1991

Silver Seal, the collector-respected Italian house from Modena, bottled this Trinidad Distillers Limited rum in its Wildlife Series. TDL is the living Trinidad producer within the Angostura group, working light column-still molasses spirit. At 20 years old and from the 1991 vintage, this is an older, deeper expression than the usual light TDL pour, bottled at the house's typical measured strength of 50 percent.

Matured in ex-bourbon oak, it has gathered weight and roundness: chocolate, allspice, banana and wood on the nose, then a palate of wood, burnt sugar, espresso and leather, finishing woody with molasses, toast and more allspice. The long ageing has given it fine technical oak and gentle spice while keeping a soft, mellow body and a touch of mint. A characterful, well-aged Trinidad with the smooth balance that the better 1991 casks are known for.
