A 21 year old Enmore single cask from Samaroli, distilled in 1988 off the last wooden Coffey still in the world, matured in ex-bourbon and bottled unsweetened at 45%, woody and elegant in classic Enmore fashion.
Description
This 1988 Enmore comes from the last operating wooden Coffey still on Earth, bottled by the historic Italian purist Samaroli as an unsweetened single cask at 21 years of age. Matured in an ex-bourbon barrel and reduced to a gentle 45%, it is the lower proof, continental aged style the house is known for.
Enmore is the more elegant of Guyana's wooden stills, lighter than Port Mourant but still clearly woody. Expect cedar and pencil from the greenheart still, light roasted notes, vanilla, soft spice and gentle wood, with hints of orchard fruit such as banana and plum. The reduced strength is deliberate, opening up that distinctive wooden Coffey character for slow, neat drinking.
