Havana Club Máximo Extra Añejo is a flagship Cuban ron, blended in the island's light ron ligero tradition from molasses on a column still and presented as the house's most prestigious bottle. It carries no age statement and is bottled at a soft 40%, finished for elegance rather than power.

For a low proof column rum it shows decent intensity. The nose offers wood, spice, leather and cocoa, the palate turns to dark chocolate, vanilla and a smooth, balanced sweetness, and the finish lingers on vanilla, leather, chocolate and oak. It is openly sweetened, so the honest read is a soft, rounded, dessert leaning ron rather than a dry one, leaning on polish and texture more than punch.
