A cask-strength 2000 vintage from Karukera in Guadeloupe, distilled from fresh sugar cane juice and bottled at 50.8%, a dry, mature agricole built for drinkers who want age and intensity without added sugar.
Description
Karukera, relaunched in 2002, is known for single-cane bottlings from Guadeloupe and works entirely from fresh-pressed sugar cane juice. This is a 2000 millesime bottled at cask strength, 50.8%, a long-aged vintage from an island under the IGP rather than the Martinique AOC.
With no sweetening, it sits in the dry, terroir-led agricole tradition. Vintages of this maturity typically show the grassy, earthy cane core deepening into dry oak, white pepper and a touch of sugar cane sap, firm and characterful rather than soft. At full strength a little water helps it unfold. A serious, bone-dry pour for committed agricole drinkers.
