Appleton Estate’s flagship aged blend marries pot and column spirit tropically matured in Jamaica for 21 years, leaning oaky and rounded with dark chocolate, vanilla and soft tropical fruit at an easy 43%.
Description
Appleton 21 Years Vintage sits at the older end of the estate's core Nassau Valley range, a fully tropically aged Jamaican blend built from pot and column distillate at J. Wray & Nephew in St. Elizabeth. Two decades in the Caribbean heat give it the deep colour and oak weight that define Appleton's mainstream, accessible face, the smooth and orange-peel side of the island rather than the loud ester side.
Molasses spirit was matured in ex-bourbon barrels at origin, where the warm climate drives faster oak extraction and a fuller angel's share than European ageing would. The result is rounded and gently spiced, with vanilla and dark chocolate over ripe tropical fruit and a touch of dried orange. Bottled unsweetened at 43%, it reads as a polished sipper that favours balance and maturity over funk, a softer introduction to long-aged Jamaican rum.
