Pirates Grog Spiced

Pirates Grog Spiced is the spiced expression in the Pirates Grog range, built on a 5 year old Honduran molasses rum matured in ex-bourbon casks before spicing. Bottled at 37.5%, it sits in the soft, accessible flavoured category rather than the dry aged tradition.

The spicing leads it toward dessert. A red fruited nose of sour cherry, raspberry and overripe fruit gives way to a palate of licorice, nutmeg and pepper, with the finish carrying nutmeg, spice, vanilla and milk chocolate over a clear buttery, pastry sweetness. It is openly a sweetened, spiced style, so expect richness rather than crispness, and treat it as the easy going, pudding friendly pour it is. At its low strength it is gentle and undemanding, pleasant alongside a dessert or relaxed sipping rather than a serious neat study.
