Caroni dansk fanklub Caroni Fan flaske Denmark HTR 1997

This single cask was bottled by the Caroni dansk fanklub, a Danish enthusiasts' selection, drawing on the closed Trinidad distillery whose rescued stock Velier made famous. Distilled in 1997 and held twenty-two years at cask strength, it is one of the prized heavy marks from the Caroni plain.

Matured in ex-bourbon oak from molasses, it shows fruity, oaky, tarry and woody notes on the nose, then a full-bodied, spicy-peppery palate of toffee and caramel, closing long, spicy and woody with a warmth that spreads from deep inside. At 61.1% it is powerful yet relatively round for a 1997 Caroni, fruity and complete, with the dark golden colour and intense, warming character collectors expect. A complex, interesting heavyweight for those who love full-proof Caroni with everything in place.
