A ten year Foursquare from Compagnie des Indes, this 2007 single cask is a gentle Bajan sipper at 43%, vanilla and coconut over buttery toffee, barrel spice, pepper and a nutty raisined finish.
Description
Compagnie des Indes, the terroir-led French bottler, selected this single cask of Foursquare distilled in 2007 and aged ten years, bottled at an easy 43% for relaxed drinking. It is the St Philip distillery's pot-and-column blend, matured in ex-bourbon oak with no added sugar.
The nose is mild and buttery with vanilla and coconut, then the palate brings vanilla, barrel, black pepper and a little spice, closing on cream toffee, nuts, barrel and raisin. At 43% it is a soft, solid sipping Foursquare, pleasant and balanced, though some tasters find it harder to recognise as Foursquare at this strength and a touch sharp despite the modest proof. It made for good value in its day as a drinking-strength expression. An approachable everyday Bajan for those who prefer their Foursquare gentle rather than full proof.
