A Glencadam of a 14 year old chosen by Cadenhead, distilled in 1964, at 45.7%. Glencadam is a gentle, fruity Highland malt of orchard and tropical fruit. It was founded in 1825 by the merchant George Cooper, soon after the Excise Act made licensed distilling viable. It became a core malt of the Ballantine's blend after Hiram Walker bought it in 1954.

Worked unhurried through the stillhouse, giving a light, clean, creamy Highland spirit. A refill bourbon hogshead held it, keeping the fresh, fruity character to the fore. Through integration spirit and wood marry, vanillin rounding out as esters lend a riper orchard and tropical fruit. Active wood frames the fruit without ever crowding the light Highland spirit. The clean, fruity spirit deepens with time, the cask drawing out a creamy honey. First fill wood drives the maturation, the cask clear in the light spirit.

Bottled at 45.7%, it is light and creamy. Melon, pear and a soft, creamy sweetness, lifted by a soft oak. A light orchard fruit and a soft spice give it shape. A fresh finish closes on pear and a soft oak. This is a fruity, easy going Highland single malt.
