A 13 year old Glenburgie from Cadenhead, distilled in 2004, at 54.7%, one of 576 bottles. Glenburgie is a Speyside single malt from near Alves, founded in 1810 as Kilnflat. Its make has long fed big blends like Old Smuggler down the decades. Its water is drawn from a local spring near the distillery.

Distilled from unpeated malt, giving a fragrant, orchard led Speyside spirit. Ex-Bourbon casks held it, the American oak lending vanilla and a light honey. Through integration spirit and wood marry, vanillin rounding out as esters lend a riper apple, pear and a soft honey. The spirit deepens with time, the cask drawing out a soft beeswax. A soft waxiness from the spirit carries a thread through the maturation. Long ageing turns the fresh apple towards beeswax, tropical fruit and a gentle spice. Built for the blender's art, the make ages with quiet grace as a single malt.

Bottled at a cask strength 54.7%, it is concentrated. Green apple, citrus and a waxy note, with a soft vanilla from the oak. A green apple and a gentle citrus lift the middle. It finishes light, fresh and faintly waxy. This is a light, fruity Speyside single malt.
