A GlenAllachie of a 14 year old chosen by Hart Brothers, distilled in 2009, at 56.1%. GlenAllachie is a Speyside single malt, the home distillery of master distiller Billy Walker. It was designed almost entirely gravity fed, an efficient plant for its time. It was founded in 1967, designed by the architect William Delme Evans, his fourth distillery after Jura and Tullibardine.

It was distilled to a full, generous cut, for the rich, sherried make GlenAllachie is known for. It was matured in refill ex-Bourbon oak, a soft vanilla beneath the fruit. In integration coconut and vanilla knit with the malt, the orchard notes deepening to sultana, date and chocolate. The full spirit deepens with time, the cask drawing out its darker register. Years in oak deepen the spirit to a darker gold, the body growing rounder and more resinous with time. The casks are picked closely, the wood matched to the rich GlenAllachie make.

Bottled at a cask strength 56.1%, it is deep and concentrated. Baked apple, honey and a dark chocolate, over a gentle, creamy oak. The body is full and rich, the fruit deep and dark. A deep finish ends on dried fruit and a dark chocolate. This is GlenAllachie's deep, fruity Speyside style.
