A distillery release of GlenAllachie, a 10 year old, cask Batch 8, at 57.2%, 50000 bottles in all. GlenAllachie is a Speyside single malt, revived in 2017 by the team of Billy Walker. It was designed almost entirely gravity fed, an efficient plant for its time. It was built by Mackinlay McPherson, the firm that supplied whisky to Shackleton's 1907 expedition. It was mothballed in 1985 and reopened in 1989, a modern distillery by Speyside standards.

Drawn from a thick, full bodied wash, for the rich, sherried make GlenAllachie is known for. Maturation came in a Pedro Ximenez cask, layered over the full GlenAllachie make. Through integration spirit and wood marry, vanillin rounding out as esters lend riper orchard fruit and a chocolate depth. Active first fill wood drives the maturation, the cask deep in the malt. Long ageing turns the fresh notes towards date, prune and a dark, bittersweet chocolate.

At a hearty 57.2% it carries real weight. A rich, sherried sweetness, with raisin, date and treacle from the cask. The body is full and rich, the fruit deep and dark. A long finish carries raisin, chocolate and a treacle. This is GlenAllachie's deep, fruity Speyside style.
