The Elgin house of Gordon & MacPhail, trading since 1895, held unrivalled Longmorn stocks. This Connoisseurs Choice 56 Year Old is a 1968 vintage from Oloroso cask 5833, an outturn of 200 bottles at a remarkable cask strength for its age.
Fifty-six years in Oloroso built profound depth, the cask's melanoidins giving date and raisin and its tannins a nutty grip.
At 54.3% it shows deep sherried dried fruit over Longmorn's worn richness, undiluted. A 1968 Connoisseurs Choice.
