A 19 year old Glen Scotia from the bottler The Whisky Agency, distilled in 1992, bottled at 46%, one of 297 bottles. Glen Scotia is a Campbeltown single malt from a town once called the whisky capital of the world. It is one of only three working distilleries left in Campbeltown, with Springbank and Glengyle.

Distilled slowly in a single pair of stills for an oily, coastal make, building the Campbeltown Glen Scotia style. An Oloroso cask held it, shaping the coastal spirit over the years. Through oxidative maturity esters concentrate, the citrus turning to a salted toffee over the oily body. Long ageing turns the fresh citrus towards dried fruit, salted toffee and a soft spice. The Glen was added to the Scotia name around 1930, the distillery dating to 1832. It runs a single pair of stills and shell and tube condensers for a slow, oily make. The oily, coastal spirit shows the cask clearly, vanilla and brine to the fore.

At 46% it is smooth and oily. Sea salt, citrus and a salted toffee, with dried fruit, fig and walnut from the cask. A baked apple and a sea salt lift it. A briny finish ends on citrus and a soft oak. This is an oily, coastal malt from the Kintyre coast.
