The bottler Lady of the Glen bottled this Glen Scotia, an 8 year old, distilled in 2016, from cask 892-4, bottled at 56.5%, one of 231 bottles. Glen Scotia is a coastal, briny Campbeltown malt, founded in 1832 on the Kintyre peninsula. Campbeltown, the Wee Toon, once held some thirty distilleries and was the whisky capital of the world.

Worked through the stills for an oily, coastal make, for an oily spirit with a coastal, salted edge. It was matured in a Tawny Port cask, the wood working into the oily malt. In these extractive early years the oak gives vanillin as vanilla and oak lactones as coconut over a briny, oily spirit. Vanillin and oak lactones from the wood lend vanilla and coconut over the fruit. It was founded in 1832 as Scotia, one of the survivors of Campbeltown's Victorian whisky boom. It is one of only three working distilleries left in Campbeltown, with Springbank and Glengyle.

Bottled at a cask strength 56.5%, it is rich. Citrus, salt and a soft vanilla, with a nutty, raisined red fruit from the cask. Beneath it run citrus, salt and a soft oil. A long, oily finish carries a sea salt and a citrus. This is Glen Scotia, a survivor of the old whisky capital.
