The Campbeltown house Cadenhead bottled this Glen Scotia, a 15 year old, distilled in 1991, bottled at 57.8%, one of 210 bottles. Glen Scotia is a coastal Campbeltown malt sitting between heavier Springbank and lighter Glengyle. It is one of only three working distilleries left in Campbeltown, with Springbank and Glengyle.

The spirit was drawn off the stills after a long ferment for a fruity, briny spirit, giving a coastal, briny Campbeltown spirit. An Oloroso cask held it, shaping the coastal spirit over the years. Into oxidative maturity, slow air ingress builds fruity ethyl esters (citrus and apple) and a briny, salted depth. The maritime setting on the Kintyre coast threads salt and brine through the spirit. Campbeltown, the Wee Toon, once held some thirty distilleries and was the whisky capital of the world. It sits on High Street in Campbeltown, on the Kintyre peninsula on the west coast.

At 57.8%, undiluted, it is deep and briny. Salt, citrus and a soft toffee, with dried fruit, fig and walnut from the cask. Citrus, brine and a salted toffee fill the middle. The finish is long, oily and salted. This is Glen Scotia, a survivor of the old whisky capital.
