A Glen Moray of an 8 year old chosen by the bottler Murray McDavid, distilled in 2017, bottled at 55.3%, one of 1273 bottles. Glen Moray is a fresh, fruity Speyside malt from the town of Elgin in Moray. It has been owned since 2008 by the French house La Martiniquaise.

The spirit was distilled from unpeated malt in copper pot stills, building a light, accessible character of orchard fruit and vanilla. Maturation finished in a Pedro Ximenez cask, layered over the light Glen Moray make. At an extractive age eugenol lends a clove note and lactones a coconut, the spirit fresh, light and fruity. A gentle maturation suits the light make, the orchard fruit growing richer with time. Glen Moray has long made an accessible, fruity Speyside in the classic style. Its light, fresh spirit suits a wide range of cask finishes, from sherry to rum.

At 55.3%, undiluted, it is deep and fruity. Baked apple, vanilla and a creamy toffee, with raisin, date and treacle from the cask. The mouthfeel is light, the fruit carried on a clean body. A fresh finish ends on apple and a soft oak. This is a light, fruity Speyside single malt.
