The bottler Moon-Import bottled this Glen Moray, an 11 year old, distilled in 2008, from cask 2837, bottled at 45%, one of 324 bottles. Glen Moray is a light, sweet Speyside malt, founded in 1897 on the banks of the River Lossie. It was a pioneer of wine cask finishing, working with Chardonnay casks back in the 1990s.

It was drawn off the stills for a clean, fruity Speyside spirit, building the fresh Glen Moray style. Finished in an Oloroso cask, the wood building over the fruity, light spirit. In integration lactones (coconut) and vanillin (vanilla) knit with the spirit, the green apple deepening to honey and toffee. A gentle maturation suits the light make, the orchard fruit growing richer with time. It was built on Gallow Hill at Elgin, the old site of the town's hangings. The light, fruity make takes cask flavour well while keeping its apple and pear.

Reduced to 45%, it is mellow. A clean, fruity sweetness, with dried fruit, fig and walnut from the cask. Beneath it run green apple, pear and a soft vanilla. The finish is long, fruity and clean. This is a light Speyside malt from the banks of the Lossie.
