The Macallan Concept Number 1, released in 2018, is the first in the distillery’s limited-edition Concept series, designed to celebrate creativity and the fusion of art and whisky-making. Bottled at 40% ABV, this single malt undergoes a unique maturation process, initially aged in sherry-seasoned oak casks before being finished in ex-bourbon casks. This maturation imparts flavors of citrus, gentle spice, and creamy vanilla, balanced by hints of ginger and dried fruits. Concept Number 1 was originally launched as a travel retail exclusive and has since become a highly sought-after release among collectors.
