A Glen Moray of a 16 year old chosen by the Huntly bottler Duncan Taylor, distilled in 2007, from cask 7040573, bottled at 52.8%, one of 77 bottles. Glen Moray is a light, sweet Speyside malt, founded in 1897 on the banks of the River Lossie. Its make is a key malt in the Cutty Sark and Label 5 blends.

The spirit was distilled from unpeated malt in copper pot stills, building the fresh Glen Moray style. A bourbon barrel held it, the wood adding a light vanilla and a soft honey. Into oxidative maturity, slow air ingress builds fruity ethyl esters (apple and pear) and a honeyed depth. A pioneer of wine cask finishing, Glen Moray has long layered fruit over its light malt. It runs a large still house at Elgin, expanded over the years to meet demand. River Lossie water and the tall stills give the light Glen Moray make. It is known for excellent value, with age statements priced more keenly than most.

At cask strength 52.8% it is full bodied. Apple, pear and a soft vanilla, with a soft vanilla from the oak. Soft orchard fruit and a creamy vanilla sit behind the cask. The finish is rounded, fruity and clean. This is Glen Moray's clean, accessible Speyside style.
