A 34 year old Glen Moray from the Huntly bottler Duncan Taylor, distilled in 1988, from cask 7037449, bottled at 45%, one of 87 bottles. Glen Moray is a Speyside single malt and a pioneer of wine cask finishing. It was built on Gallow Hill at Elgin, the old site of the town's hangings.

It was made on River Lossie water and condensed in shell and tube condensers, building the fresh Glen Moray style. An Oloroso cask shaped the finish, over the fruity Glen Moray spirit. At a great, fragile age oxidation rules, sotolon lending maple and dried fig as beeswax and honey linger. River Lossie water and the tall stills give the light Glen Moray make. Active wood frames the fruit without overwhelming the light Speyside spirit. The light, fruity make takes cask flavour well while keeping its apple and pear. It has been owned since 2008 by the French house La Martiniquaise.

At 45% it is smooth and fruity. Green apple, vanilla and a soft honey, with dried fruit, fig and walnut from the cask. The mouthfeel is light, the fruit carried on a clean body. The close is light and clean, fruit over a gentle oak. This is a light, fruity Speyside single malt.
