Description
This Glen Moray was bottled by Decadent Drinks, a 32 year old, distilled in 1990, bottled at 51.8%, one of 304 bottles. Glen Moray is a Speyside single malt from Elgin, known for its light, fruity and accessible style. It closed in 1910 and reopened in 1923 under Macdonald and Muir of Glenmorangie.
The spirit was run through the stills on River Lossie water for a light make, giving a clean, sweet Speyside spirit. Maturation finished in an Oloroso cask, layered over the light Glen Moray make. Ethereal and fragile, decades draw the light malt to a honeyed, waxy delicacy of sotolon, dried fruit and old oak. Refill oak lets the light, fruity Glen Moray character lead the way. The light spirit suits a wide range of cask finishes, from sherry to rum. River Lossie water and the tall stills give the light Glen Moray make. Its light, fresh spirit suits a wide range of cask finishes, from sherry to rum.
At cask strength 51.8% it is full bodied. A fresh, fruity sweetness, with dried fruit, fig and walnut from the cask. The texture is light and clean, the fruit lifted by vanilla. A fresh finish ends on apple and a soft oak. This is a light Speyside malt from the banks of the Lossie.
