Glen Moray 22 Years Old 1992 (Small Batch)

The Campbeltown house Cadenhead bottled this Glen Moray, a 22 year old, distilled in 1992, bottled at 56.2%, one of 444 bottles. Glen Moray is a Speyside single malt from Elgin, known for its light, fruity and accessible style. Most of its malt matures first in American oak ex-Bourbon before any cask finish.

The spirit was run through the stills on River Lossie water for a light make, building the fresh Glen Moray style. An ex-Bourbon barrel shaped it, vanillin lending vanilla under the apple. In the oxidative, evaporative years concentration brings dried fruit, honey and a waxy depth over the apple. Active wood frames the fruit without overwhelming the light Speyside spirit. Glen Moray has long made an accessible, fruity Speyside in the classic style. It closed in 1910 and reopened in 1923 under Macdonald and Muir of Glenmorangie. The accessible, fruity make is the base for the distillery's many cask finishes.

At 56.2%, undiluted, it is deep and fruity. Apple, pear and a soft vanilla, with a soft vanilla from the oak. The mouthfeel is light, the fruit carried on a clean body. The finish is rounded, fruity and clean. This is Glen Moray, a pioneer of cask finishing.
