Description
A Glen Moray, a distillery bottling, at 40%. Glen Moray is a Speyside single malt and a pioneer of wine cask finishing. Its make is a key malt in the Cutty Sark and Label 5 blends.
It was run through the stills on River Lossie water for a light make, building the fresh Glen Moray style. An Oloroso cask shaped the finish, over the fruity Glen Moray spirit. No age is given, but vanillin vanilla and a bright apple are well integrated. River Lossie water and the tall stills give the light Glen Moray make. The light, fruity make takes cask flavour well while keeping its apple and pear. Refill oak lets the light, fruity Glen Moray character lead the way. It was a pioneer of wine cask finishing, working with Chardonnay casks back in the 1990s. It is known for excellent value, with age statements priced more keenly than most. Most of its malt matures first in American oak ex-Bourbon before any cask finish.
Reduced to 40%, it is mellow. A light, orchard fruit and toffee, with dried fruit, fig and walnut from the cask. A baked apple and a gentle spice lift it. A long, fruity finish carries a green apple and a soft spice. This is a light, fruity Speyside single malt.
