Glen Keith 10 Years Old 2013 Càrn Mòr Strictly Limited (Morrison Scotch Whisky Distillers)

A 10 year old Glen Keith from the bottler Morrison Scotch Whisky Distillers, distilled in 2013, bottled at 47.5%, one of 1425 bottles. Glen Keith is a light, fruity Speyside malt, built in 1957 as Seagram's experimental distillery. Its water is drawn from the Balloch Hill spring above Keith.

The spirit was distilled light and fruity in the Glen Keith style, for a light, elegant spirit with a soft malt. First fill bourbon gave a fuller vanilla and a touch of coconut from the lactones. By the integrating teens congeners fade and esters build, the light, fruity spirit growing rounder. Balloch Hill water and the tall stills give the light Glen Keith make. Built for the blender's art, the spirit ages with grace as a single malt. Single malt Glen Keith is rare, most of it coming from independent bottlers. Vanillin and oak lactones from the wood lend vanilla and coconut over the fruit.

At a hearty 47.5% it carries real weight. Apple, pear and a soft vanilla, with a soft vanilla from the oak. A baked apple and a gentle spice lift it. The finish runs light, fruity and clean. This is a clean, fruity Speyside single malt.
