Hakushu 12 Year Old Single Malt is a delicate and refined Japanese whisky crafted at the Hakushu Distillery, founded by Suntory in 1973. Nestled in the forested foothills of Mt. Kaikomagatake, the distillery benefits from its high-altitude location in the Japanese Alps, which imparts a fresh and vibrant character to the whisky. This single malt opens with aromas of green apple, basil, pine needle, and a subtle hint of smoke. On the palate, expect sweet pear, mint, and kiwi, balanced by crisp green citrus and sage, with a gentle smoky undertone. Aged for at least 12 years in a combination of American oak and ex-sherry casks, Hakushu 12 is celebrated for its herbal complexity and delicate peatiness.

Description
Founded as Suntory's second malt whisky distillery after Yamazaki, Hakushu expanded in 1981 with the addition of the Hakushu Higashi distillery. Originally released in the 1980s, Hakushu 12 quickly became a favorite among whisky enthusiasts for its unique flavor profile. However, due to rising global demand and limited aged stocks, the whisky was discontinued in 2018 before being reintroduced in 2021 in limited quantities. Now a rare find, Hakushu 12 commands premium prices, reflecting both its scarcity and its revered status among connoisseurs seeking a fresh yet layered Japanese single malt.
