Description
From the Pitlochry bottler Signatory Vintage, a 10 year old Edradour, distilled in 2012, from cask 306, bottled at 46%. Edradour is a Highland single malt from Perthshire, traditional and tiny, now Scotland's little gem. It was founded in 1825, growing out of an old farmers' cooperative in the glen above Pitlochry.
The spirit was drawn off the tiny stills and cooled in worm tubs for an oily make, giving the full bodied, creamy Highland spirit. It was matured in an Oloroso cask, the wood working slowly into the rich malt. In integration lactones (coconut) and vanillin (vanilla) knit with the malt, the nutty chocolate deepening. Active wood frames the rich fruit without overwhelming the oily Highland spirit. Refill oak lets the rich, oily Edradour character lead the way. Its tiny copper stills and worm tubs give a rich, oily, full bodied spirit. Years in oak round the spirit, the dried fruit and chocolate deepening over the oily core.
Bottled at 46%, it is rounded. Dried fruit, nut and a soft chocolate, with dried fruit, fig and walnut from the cask. A baked apple and a gentle spice lift it. The finish is long, oily and gently spiced. This is the oily, rich malt of tiny Edradour.
