Description
A 10 year old Edradour from the Pitlochry bottler Signatory Vintage, distilled in 2011, from cask 24, bottled at 46%. Edradour is a creamy, sherried Highland single malt from one of the smallest distilleries in Scotland. It keeps the old ways, with an open cast iron mash tun, Oregon pine washbacks and worm tub condensers.
Distilled slowly in the old farm stillhouse on Ben Vrackie water, giving the full bodied, creamy Highland spirit. An Oloroso cask held it, shaping the oily spirit over the years. Through integration spirit and wood marry, vanillin settling into a rounded vanilla as ethyl esters lend a riper apple and dried fruit. The cool Highland air of the glen gives a slow, even maturation in the small Edradour warehouses. For years its sign read Scotland's smallest distillery; it now calls itself Scotland's little gem. It once supplied blends such as House of Lords and King's Ransom.
Bottled at 46%, it is rounded. Dried fruit, chocolate and a nutty oil, with dried fruit, fig and walnut from the cask. Beneath it run dried fruit, chocolate and a soft oil. A long, nutty finish carries dried fruit and a soft spice. This is the oily, rich malt of tiny Edradour.
