This Edradour was bottled by the Pitlochry bottler Signatory Vintage, a 10 year old, distilled in 2009, from cask 367, bottled at 46%. Edradour is a Highland single malt from the tiny farm distillery at Pitlochry, long called Scotland's smallest. It was bought in 2002 by Andrew Symington of the independent bottler Signatory Vintage.

It was distilled from unpeated malt in tiny copper stills and worm tubs, for a rich, nutty spirit with a waxy depth. Maturation came in an Oloroso cask, layered over the rich Edradour make. In integration lactones (coconut) and vanillin (vanilla) knit with the malt, the nutty chocolate deepening. A small distillery and a hands on approach shape every cask by hand. Active wood frames the rich fruit without overwhelming the oily Highland spirit. The worm tubs leave an oily weight that carries through the years in cask.

At an approachable 46% it is soft and oily. Dried fruit, fig and a creamy vanilla, with dried fruit, fig and walnut from the cask. The texture is oily and creamy, the fruit lifted by vanilla. The close is oily and warming, fruit over a gentle oak. This is the little gem of the Highlands at Pitlochry.
