A 12 year old Edradour, a distillery bottling, from 2013, at 46%. Edradour is a creamy, sherried Highland single malt from one of the smallest distilleries in Scotland. Its tiny copper stills and worm tubs give a rich, oily, full bodied spirit.

Distilled slowly in the old farm stillhouse on Ben Vrackie water, the worm tubs lending a weighty, oily character. A Burgundy cask held it, shaping the oily spirit over the years. Integration folds eugenol (clove) and vanillin (vanilla) into the oily malt, the body fuller and creamier. Years in oak round the spirit, the dried fruit and chocolate deepening over the oily core. It once supplied blends such as House of Lords and King's Ransom. The worm tubs leave an oily weight that carries through the years in cask. A gentle maturation suits the oily make, the nutty richness growing with time.

At 46% it is creamy and full. Dried fruit, chocolate and a nutty oil, with a soft red berry and an earthy edge from the cask. The texture is oily and creamy, the fruit lifted by vanilla. The close is oily and warming, fruit over a gentle oak. This is a Highland single malt of real character.
