The bottler Morrison and MacKay bottled this Dufftown, a 10 year old, distilled in 2009, bottled at 47.5%, one of 470 bottles. Dufftown is a Speyside single malt drawn from Jock's Well in the Conval Hills. It was founded in 1895 within a former meal mill by Peter Mackenzie and his partners.

It was worked through the stills with a creamed yeast for a malty, fruity make, giving the smooth, approachable Speyside spirit. Maturation came in ex-Bourbon wood, the oak quiet behind the smooth spirit. In integration lactones (coconut) and vanillin (vanilla) knit with the spirit, the green apple deepening to honey. The cool Speyside air gives a slow, even maturation in the Dufftown warehouses. Years in oak round the spirit, the green apple and malt deepening to honey. Refill oak lets the nutty, malty Dufftown character lead the way. The Singleton style leans on a mix of ex-Bourbon and ex-Sherry oak.

At a natural 47.5% it is full and nutty. Apple, malt and a soft honey, with a soft vanilla from the oak. Soft orchard fruit and a nutty malt sit behind the cask. The finish runs gentle, nutty and warming. This is a Speyside single malt of real character.
