Description
Singleton of Dufftown from the distillery, a 25 year old, at 43%. Dufftown is a smooth, approachable Speyside malt from the town with the most distilleries in Scotland. For years it made a rich, nutty, spicy spirit in the Bell's style.
Made on Conval Hills water and condensed in shell and tube condensers, giving the smooth, approachable Speyside spirit. Finished in a European Oak cask, the wood building over the malty, fruity spirit. At this evaporative stage ellagitannins lend a drying structure while oxidation builds a richer, honeyed fruit. Built for the blender's art, the spirit ages with grace as a single malt. Maturation in the eight Dufftown warehouses is slow and steady. It is one of Diageo's largest malt distilleries, making around 5.8 million litres a year. Long ageing turns the fresh apple towards honey, dried fruit and a soft spice.
Bottled at 43%, it is rounded. Green apple, malt and a soft vanilla, with a spiced, dried fruit edge from the cask. The mouthfeel is smooth, the fruit carried on a malty body. It finishes smooth, nutty and approachable. This is a smooth, malty Speyside malt from the Conval Hills.
