This Dalmore was bottled by the bottler Sansibar, a 10 year old, distilled in 2009, from cask 800158, bottled at 46.5%, one of 288 bottles. Dalmore was founded in 1839 by Alexander Matheson and long run by the Mackenzies. It is owned by Whyte and Mackay, and its King Alexander III bottling nods to the clan legend.

The spirit was distilled for the thick, full bodied spirit Dalmore is known for, for a full, opulent Highland spirit. It rested in ex-Bourbon oak, the wood adding vanilla and a soft honey. In integration lactones (coconut) and vanillin (vanilla) knit with the sherry, fruit deepening to chocolate and orange. Dalmore's sherry comes largely from the aged Oloroso casks of Gonzalez Byass. Its flat topped wash stills and water jacketed spirit stills build a thick, rich, oily spirit. The rich, oily spirit takes cask flavour superbly, especially aged sherry wood.

At 46.5% it is gentle, sweet and fruity. A rich, sherried sweetness, with a soft vanilla from the oak. It is full and rich, the opulent spirit shining through. The finish is deep, sherried and dark. This is Dalmore's opulent, chocolate orange Highland style.
