Description
A 30 year old Dalmore from the independent Hunter Laing, distilled in 1991, bottled at 49%, one of 225 bottles. Dalmore is a rich, marmalade and dark chocolate Highland single malt of real opulence. The rich, dried fruit style runs through the core range, from the twelve year old upward.
Worked through flat topped and water jacketed stills for a rich, oily spirit, for the rich, full bodied make Dalmore is known for. Ex-Bourbon casks held it, the oak letting the full bodied, oily character lead. Ethereal and old, decades draw the malt to a rich, waxy depth of sotolon, old oak and dried fruit. An aged Oloroso cask suits the rich spirit, dried fruit and chocolate meeting the oily weight. Maturation in the cool north keeps the rich spirit balanced over the years. The full bodied make rewards a long, sherried maturation in good wood.
Bottled at a cask strength 49%, it is rich. Dried fruit, orange and a treacly malt, with a soft vanilla from the oak. Soft orange and a treacly malt sit behind the cask. A long, opulent finish carries a chocolate orange depth. This is a chocolate, orange and dried fruit Highland single malt.
