A 20 year old Dallas Dhu from the Italian bottler Sestante, at 40%. Oily and malty, with orchard fruit, honey and a soft toffee. Rather than demolish it, Historic Scotland kept it whole as a museum. Independent bottlings are rare, mostly from Gordon and MacPhail. This is a fruity, oily Speyside malt of real age.

Description
A Dallas Dhu drawn by the Italian bottler Sestante, bottled at 40%. Dallas Dhu was a Speyside malt distillery whose spirit fed the Roderick Dhu blend. With the distillery long silent, every bottle draws on a finite, dwindling stock.
It was distilled for a malty, fruity Speyside spirit, for the malty, fruity make Dallas Dhu was known for. A bourbon barrel held it, vanilla and a soft toffee over the oily malt. Into oxidative maturity, slow air ingress builds fruity ethyl esters (apple and pear) and a waxy honey. Maturation in the cool north east kept the spirit fresh across the long years. The slow loss of the angel's share concentrates the fruity, oily core over the decades. The very last cask was filled on the sixteenth of March 1983, when the distillery closed. Most Dallas Dhu went quietly into the Roderick Dhu blend, a little surviving as single malt. No new spirit followed it after 1983, the stills kept as a museum piece.
Reduced to 40%, it is mellow. A fruity, honeyed sweetness, with a soft vanilla from the oak. It is fruity and malty, the oily spirit shining through. The finish is long, fruity and oily. This is a finite single malt from the lost Dallas Dhu distillery.
