A Dailuaine of an 11 year old chosen by the revived blender James Eadie, distilled in 2007, from cask 310570, bottled at 54.3%, one of 271 bottles. Dailuaine is a Diageo Speyside distillery, its robust malt the backbone of many a blend. The distillery was founded in 1852 by William Mackenzie on the banks of the Spey at Carron.

The spirit was worked through the big stills for a meaty, malty spirit, for the rich, full bodied make Dailuaine is known for. An ex-Bourbon barrel shaped it, vanilla beneath the robust, full bodied spirit. By the integrating teens congeners fade and esters build, the rich, full bodied spirit growing rounder. The full bodied make rewards a long, patient maturation in good wood. Dailuaine's heavy, malty make is prized by blenders for the body it gives. Most Dailuaine goes quietly into blends, a robust filler kept in part as single malt.

At a hearty 54.3% it carries real weight. Malt, dried fruit and a rich spice, with a soft vanilla from the oak. It is robust and fruity, the full bodied spirit shining through. A full, malty finish ends on dried fruit and a warm spice. This is a full bodied Speyside single malt of real depth.
