This Dailuaine was bottled by the bottler Daily Dram, a 35 year old, distilled in 1973, bottled at 47.6%, one of 150 bottles. Dailuaine is a full bodied Speyside malt of real depth, mostly bottled by independents. In 1889 it became the first distillery to use the pagoda roof, the Doig Ventilator designed by Charles Doig.

Distilled for the heavy, full bodied spirit Dailuaine is known for, to build a robust, malty, sherry loving character. Ex-Bourbon casks held it, the oak letting the heavy, malty character lead. Ethereal and old, decades draw the malt to a rich, waxy depth of sotolon, old oak and dried fruit. The big stills give a heavy spirit that takes a long, sherried maturation in its stride. Dailuaine's heavy, malty make is prized by blenders for the body it gives. Its big stills give a heavy, full bodied spirit that takes sherry wood especially well.

At 47.6%, undiluted, it is deep and fruity. Dried fruit, malt and a rich, savoury depth, with a soft vanilla from the oak. Soft orchard fruit and a rich malt sit behind the cask. The finish is long, rich and savoury. This is Dailuaine's heavy, meaty Speyside style.
