From the independent Hunter Laing, a 24 year old Cragganmore, distilled in 1989, from cask HL 10375, bottled at 50%, one of 169 bottles. Cragganmore, on the River Spey at Ballindalloch, is the heart malt of the Old Parr blend. It was chosen in 1988 as the Speyside member of Diageo's original Classic Malts.

Distilled for the complex, fragrant spirit Cragganmore is known for, to build a complex, savoury, fragrant character. An ex-Bourbon barrel shaped it, vanilla beneath the savoury, malty character. In the oxidative, evaporative years concentration brings dried fruit, fig and a savoury depth over a waxy malt. The meaty, fragrant make rewards a long, patient maturation. Cragganmore is reckoned among the most complex of all the Speyside malts. Its spirit stills are flat topped with a wide neck, an unusual shape that builds a complex, fragrant spirit.

At 50%, undiluted, it is deep and fruity. Orchard fruit, malt and a warm spice, with a soft vanilla from the oak. Beneath it run dried fruit, malt and a savoury edge. A long, fragrant finish carries a savoury depth. This is a fragrant Speyside single malt of real depth.
